1. Purpose
This policy sets out Murzo Group's approach to weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, pyrotechnics, controlled parts, replicas, deactivated items, historical weapons, military memorabilia, security equipment, dual-use items, and other controlled or dangerous items.
The purpose is to prevent unlawful possession, acquisition, transfer, storage, transport, import, export, display, use, or facilitation of controlled items and to protect people, assets, customers, suppliers, and the public.
2. Scope
This policy applies to Murzo Group, its workers, contractors, suppliers, security providers, logistics partners, customers, visitors, agents, property managers, collection custodians, cultural property contacts, and any person acting on behalf of Murzo Group.
It applies even where controlled items arise indirectly, such as through cultural objects, antiques, theatrical props, fashion accessories, historic collections, defence-adjacent projects, research, property clearance, exhibitions, shipping, storage, photography, or client requests.
3. Zero-Assumption Control Position
Murzo Group must not assume that an item is lawful, safe, inert, exempt, antique, deactivated, decorative, or non-controlled merely because it is described that way by a supplier, customer, seller, courier, online listing, or third party.
Any item that may be a weapon, firearm, explosive, ammunition, controlled part, replica, deactivated weapon, prohibited item, pyrotechnic, military item, or dual-use item must be escalated before acceptance, movement, display, storage, sale, or transfer.
4. Prohibited Activity Without Approval
No person may acquire, store, transport, import, export, repair, alter, test, sell, display, loan, photograph, advertise, or dispose of controlled items for Murzo Group without written approval from an authorised representative and any required legal, licensing, insurance, customs, and safety checks.
Murzo Group may prohibit involvement entirely where risk is unacceptable, licensing is unclear, or the item is not necessary for legitimate business purposes.
5. Licensing, Permits & Legal Checks
Controlled items may require firearms certificates, registered firearms dealer involvement, explosives licences, police notification, hazardous goods controls, customs declarations, export licences, import permits, transport controls, storage controls, insurance approval, or local authority requirements.
International movements must also consider destination law, transit-country law, sanctions, export controls, customs controls, cultural property law, CITES where materials are involved, and local criminal law.
6. Historical, Cultural & Display Items
Historic weapons, ceremonial weapons, swords, daggers, antique firearms, deactivated firearms, armour, ammunition, military artefacts, and battlefield objects require enhanced provenance, safety, deactivation, licensing, and handling checks.
Cultural or display value does not remove safety, criminal, customs, export, or insurance obligations.
7. Storage, Transport & Handling
Approved controlled items must be stored, moved, and handled securely and only by authorised people.
- Use locked, access-controlled storage suitable for the item and risk
- Keep chain-of-custody, inventory, condition, licence, and movement records
- Do not transport controlled items using ordinary courier routes unless legally permitted and approved
- Segregate ammunition, explosives, chemicals, batteries, fuels, and ignition sources where required
- Use specialist carriers, police advice, competent persons, or licensed contractors where necessary
8. Security, Incident & Emergency Controls
Loss, theft, discovery, suspected live ammunition, suspected explosive, unauthorised access, attempted purchase, suspicious enquiry, or unsafe item condition must be escalated immediately.
Murzo Group may stop work, evacuate, isolate the area, contact emergency services, notify police, preserve evidence, restrict access, notify insurers, and suspend related activity.
9. Suppliers, Customers & Third Parties
Murzo Group may refuse customers, suppliers, shipments, consignments, projects, exhibitions, or transactions involving controlled items unless identity, legal purpose, licensing, ownership, provenance, storage, transport, and destination checks are satisfactory.
Third-party requests to ship, store, hide, disguise, under-declare, misdescribe, or avoid controls must be refused and escalated.
10. Records, Review & Responsibilities
Murzo Group will keep records of approvals, refusals, licences, permits, due diligence, inventories, movements, storage checks, incident reports, legal advice, and disposal evidence.
Directors, security leads, asset custodians, cultural property contacts, logistics contacts, compliance leads, and authorised representatives are responsible for applying this policy. It will be reviewed periodically and after legal, security, product, collection, or operational changes.
